What days do you run?
Our main group run happens on Saturdays, with distances tailored to your training level and group. Additional weekday runs are organized by coaches and shared through the private member Facebook group or respective group chats (track days, trail running, triathlon).
What time do you run?
Saturday runs typically start between 6:00am and 7:00am. Weekday evening runs usually take place between 6:00pm and 7:00pm, with flexibility based on group preference.
Where do you run?
We run at different locations throughout the year, including Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve (20215 Chasewood Park Dr, Houston, TX 77070) and Meyer Park (7700 Cypresswood Dr, Spring, TX 77379). The bulk of our running is done from the YMCA at the intersection of 249/Cypresswood (19915 TX-249, Houston, TX 77070). Members also explore local trails, neighborhoods, and tracks for variety.
What kind of program do you follow?
The foundation of our program is the 80/20 principle - 80% of our runs are run at a conversational pace and 20% dedicated to speed or tempo work after a solid base is established. This approach helps build endurance, prevent burnout and improves performance. Many of our runners achieve personal bests each season.
Which training group should I join?
Start with the group that best matches your current fitness level. As your training progresses, you can always move into a group that aligns with your evolving goals. Not sure where to start? Please reach out to one of our coaches:
What races do you participate in?
Our target race is the Chevron Houston Full/Aramco Half Marathon in January. Many members also participate in races throughout the year with support from teammates every step of the way.
Do I need to race to be a member?
Not at all. Many members join simply to improve their fitness and be part of a consistent, encouraging community.
I'm interested in trail races and triathlons. Do you offer training plans for that?
While we do not offer formal plans for these, many members train together for trail races and triathlons, organizing group runs, rides and swims.
Why should I join?
Because CRA is more than a run club. It is a community built on consistency, encouragement and shared progress. It is early mornings, finish lines, friendships and the people who show up beside you through it all. For 10 years CRA has been about more than miles. It is about becoming stronger together!
